The moment your company takes on its first employee in Zimbabwe, it becomes an employer in the statutory sense, and the National Social Security Authority requires registration within 30 days. That applies whether the person is a manager, a driver or a part-time bookkeeper, and it applies to a company whose owner has never set foot in the country that year.
Contributions to the Pension and Other Benefits Scheme are 9% of insurable earnings in total, split evenly: 4.5% from the employer and 4.5% deducted from the employee. Insurable earnings are capped at US$700 a month, so the most any single employee costs the company is US$31.50 a month, and the most the two sides pay together is US$63.
Alongside the contribution there is a monthly return, the P4, filed through the authority self-service portal, with remittance due by the 10th of the following month.
| Monthly insurable earnings | Employer pays | Employee pays | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| US$300 | US$13.50 | US$13.50 | US$27.00 |
| US$500 | US$22.50 | US$22.50 | US$45.00 |
| US$700 | US$31.50 | US$31.50 | US$63.00 |
| US$1,200 | US$31.50 | US$31.50 | US$63.00 |
Registration creates a monthly obligation that does not pause when you are busy. The P4 return and the contribution are due by the 10th of the following month, every month, including months where you paid nobody and the return is nil.
Our compliance retainer exists to carry this. The Lite tier covers a company with no staff filing nil returns. The Standard tier covers up to five people, with the NSSA return and the Pay As You Earn return both filed by the 10th.
Our fee for nssa employer registration in Zimbabwe: US$90. Government fees included in the price, not itemised by NSSA. Our fee and the government fee are always shown as two separate numbers.
We confirm your timeline in writing before you pay. Prices were last verified on 10 September 2026. The full price list is at ZimCompany pricing.
Yes. The obligation starts with the first employee and the authority requires registration within 30 days of becoming an employer.
The employer pays 4.5% of insurable earnings, capped at US$700 of earnings a month, so no more than US$31.50 per employee per month. The employee contributes the same amount from their pay.
The duty sits on the company, not on you personally being present. The registration and the monthly returns can be filed for you, which is what the compliance retainer covers.
